Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977 is an American actress. Her films that are centered around feminist themes are her mainstay. Her work has earned her numerous accolades such as an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 people in the world in 2012. Chastain discovered an interest in acting from an early age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 in Shakespeare's Juliet. She studied acting at Juilliard School and was then contracted to a talent holding deal with John Wells, a television producer. She was frequently a guest on a variety of television shows and also played a variety of roles in stage productions. After making her film debut at the age of 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain had her breakthrough in 2011 with six film releases which included the dramatics Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). Chastain was also considered for Academy Award nominations as a part of The Help (2011), where she played an aspiring socialite, as well as Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as an CIA analyst. The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain was not only praised for her portrayal of strong-willed women, which was evident in the dramas Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She also appeared in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (1921). In the role of Tammy Faye Bakker, she received the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette from The Eyes of Tammy-Faye. Chastain created Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equity. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
